| Difference
between ADSL and Frame Relay
and what “CIR” means.
CIR
is short for committed information rate,
a specified amount of guaranteed bandwidth (measured in bits per second).
Dependent on the level of ADSL service you purchase, you are
guaranteed a CIR by the telephone company providing your service.
The difference between ADSL and frame relay service is that a much
higher rate of CIR is available and guaranteed by the telephone company
with frame relay service than with ADSL.
In addition, ADSL is not yet available in all areas of Hawaii,
whereby, according to GTE, frame relay is available.
